You’ve heard that toe-tappin’, catchy swing beat. Now, dance like how it was done back in the day!
Because we want to share the utter joy of swing dancing with our community, a few of us local jitterbugs have decided to host an ongoing SUNDAY AFTERNOON workshop series!
You can learn how to dance 6- and 8-count swing the way it was done when swing was king!
It’s cool. It’s hip…and like nothing else on the scene today.
If you’re new to classic swing dancing, start by learning the three foundational moves of swing: the closed position triple step, the sugar push, and the lindy hop basic (a.k.a, the “swingout” or “whip”).
More experienced swing dancers will get hep to flashy slides, spins, syncopations, and even air steps (if you dare!). All will learn how to become better dancers through working on musicality and partner connection.
BONUS: To get the ball rolling, we plan to teach two quintessential swing-era line/group dances: the “Dean Collins Shim Sham” and the “Big Apple” by early spring. Don’t miss out!
